MY THOUGHTS

I love how the foundation feels like second-skin and that I can skip sunblock, since SPF30 is ample for my sensitive skin. Lightweight and thin in consistency, it is a dream to blend. I sometimes use a setting powder over it; and with that, makeup lasts the whole day with no touchups. Can't vouch for 24 hours longevity though! (10 hours is good enough for me. Don't wish to risk my skin to test this claim.) 

Coverage is at best, buildable to medium; I'd wish for it to be medium buildable to full however. On the flip side, lesser coverage also means easier makeup removal. Less wastage on micellar water and cotton pads!

One thing to note: the lack of a pump can mean messier application as this foundie is pretty runny. 

TIP: Go easy on the bottle shaking and remember to cover bottle tip with your index finger as you get the product out on your finger (instead of pouring directly onto palms.)

Pure Color Envy Lip Volumizer

Launched back in 2015, this is an EL product that I personally feel have been under the radar for too long! A great alternative to your usual lip gloss, plus the ability to pucker up your pout game. Fellow thin-lipped Sisters, rejoice!

MY THOUGHTS

I definitely enjoyed the slight cooling sensation and non-stickiness, unlike some of its competing luxury brands. With a natural light pink hue, it is gorgeous to use alone even! This one is definitely going into my makeup pouch staples as touching up with matte lipsticks can sometimes can be a nightmare. With this Lip Volumizer, my problem of dry thin lips can be alleviated. Yay!

1st Impresions: L'Oreal True Match Cushion and Color Riche Paris Fashion Week Moist Matte Lipsticks

These four products are conveniently packaged in exquisite packaging, and this makes them super travel-friendly. I adore all of them but I am only going to talk more about my number one & two passion - cushion and lipsticks. :)

True Match Cushion (SPF 33 PA+++) SGD30.90

Available in 3 shades. Mine is N1 Nude Ivory

Housed in a reflective silver & white case, the exterior doubles up as the second mirror. This cushion feels so compact and handy, I literally take it everywhere I go for easy touch ups and quickly realised touchups are not necessary.

Coverage

In my opinion, this cushion beats all other drugstore cushion on the market now in terms of coverage. Ultra-high in coverage, you can skip concealer unless you have absolutely dark scarring. It can also disguise huge pore size in a few quick taps.

Finish

Matte, but not flat at all. The cushion foundation dries up to a satin finish and you can instantly see how three dimensional your skin looks! It's amazing how matte the finish feels, yet your face appears to be so smooth & plumped it's as if you had some dermal fillers injected. Haha! Best thing yet? No tackiness, stickiness whatsoever and no setting powder needed even for oily skin. Talk about real travel-convenience. 

Lasting Power

It markets itself to last 14 hours. I didn't have the chance to test that out myself - I never needed to leave on my makeup for that long (thank God.) However after 8 hours, makeup looks fresh as before and no touch ups were necessary at all!

No edit, no filter, no concealer, no setting powder, no other makeup except lip balm

Color Riche Paris Fashion Week Moist Matte Lipsticks SGD21.80

Four new matte shades. 

Initially, le silly me kinda mistaken these as an extension to Rouge Magique line as they were mattes as well. But later on I realised they are from another range holding up on its own. Different formulation from Rouge Magique, Color Riche is formulated with Light Illumi™ complex, velvet fusion powder and pure pigments.

They feel extremely smooth & glide on like no other. Pay attention to the contour of the lipstick tip - can you see it is designed with a slight dent (refer pic above)? Makes the product looks classy and application, a dream.

My favourite shade in 232 Beige Couture

Their shades are very wearable except for the purple shade, which may not suit everyone's palettes.

On a personal level, Rouge Magique has already reached my HG level in the category of beautiful matte lippies, so this Color Riche range appeals less to me. Moreover, I didn't like how my lips started peeling after a day's wear.

Maybelline Super BB Fresh Matte Cushion Review

2016 was a year of cushions - and this cushion trend is here to stay through 2017 as well, maybe even longer.

Maybelline already hopped on the bandwagon some time back with their first Super BB Cushion. This January 2017, Maybelline Singapore is going to welcome the new year with a NEW addition to the line: Super BB Fresh Matte Cushion.

Was really stoked to be amongst the first few to lay my hands on this cushion. My skin seemed to have better luck with Western cushions and Japanese cushions over time - they don't break me out as much as Korean cushions. And this Maybelline Super BB Fresh Matte Cushion particularly excites me because it is a hydrating formula with a high coverage & matte finish, targeted at oily/combi skin! And that's totally like a godsend for yours truly, ahem. :)

On top of the the same hydrating essence present in the first Super BB Cushion, this matte cushion has been enriched with mattifying agents & correcting minerals for a flawless matte, natural "no-makeup" look that no longer feels dry and looks flat.

Swatches

Used my finger and dabbed a huge chunk out for the swatches above. My skin tone (MAC NC25/ Korean cushion shade no. 21) is an in-between these two shades.  

Tip: Always go for the lighter shade when you're in between two shades, because of oxidization.

 My preferred shade is 02 Light for my current skin tone.

Although 03 Natural looks okay in photos because of lighting, but in real life, it is a tad too dark for me even before colour oxidizes. 

*Korean cushion users,  if you're shade 23, you may still find 03 Natural slightly dark with orange undertones.

MY THOUGHTS

This is by far the most matte and highest coverage BB cushion I ever owned (out of my current stash of approximately 25 cushions). No setting powder nor concealer needed! If you have some really dark scars, just dot a little more product on the areas using your finger.

We always think that matte = dead matte = flat. But NO, not for this cushion. I am so pleasantly surprised how naturally radiant and 3D my face looks, and when you touch the skin surface, it feels matte and non-greasy!

To summarise...

PROS: 

1. Matte satiny finish, setting powder not necessary.
2. High coverage - no concealer needed unless very dark scarring.
3. Long-lasting
4. Feels fresh & Hydrating   
5. SPF 25 (actually enough for normal day use, contrary to popular false belief of high SPF50 being more superior)
6. Doesn't clog pores 
7. Good for my sensitive skin. No breakouts, yay! 
8. Pretty packaging colour and very compact & travel-friendly!

 CONS:

1. Limited shades; and 03 Natural is honestly quite an unflattering orange shade.
2. Mild colour transfer. (Problem can be resolved with setting powder.)
3. At the end of 7 hours, product starts to slide around a little. Blotting away excess oil will help to prolong its longevity.
4. Not sweat-proof. If your face perspires a lot, touchups will be needed.

Especially for users with sensitive oily skin and post acne scars who need the extra coverage on those days - this one saves your moolah on concealer!

L'Oréal Infallible 24H Foundation and Color Riche Collection Star 24 Karat Gold: Review, Swatches and MOTD (Part 2)

DARING LIPS - GLOW IN GOLD

Together with Infallible 24H Foundation, L'Oréal Color Riche Collection Star 24 Karat Gold was also launched today in Singapore.

Since its first launch over 30 years ago, L'Oréal Paris Makeup has continued to reinvent this lipstick formula to provide consumers with the richest colour and richest care. Now, the latest development is the introduction of Color Riche Collection Star 24K Gold metallic lipstick collection, where the lippies are enriched with lip-loving oils, velvety pigments and... (listen up here!) 24 KARAT GOLD! Yes, the brand is pampering us with real gold!

Even though they are metallic lipsticks, these are definitely not the old-school type of drying metallic lipsticks that makes one look 8 years older. This L'Oréal line still retains its Color Riche moisturizing formula...uh no wait, it's an improved version of it!

The Star item of this new lipstick line is in the shade G101- Le Gold. The versatility of its multi-functions of a lipstick, eyeshadow stick and highlighter makes it endearing. Not to mention you can also layering it on another shade to create on-trend ombré lips.

SWATCHES

From left: R601, RB602, P601, N601, G101, M601.

 

All shades contain gold shimmers; while some contain slightly bigger speckles and others are more subtle. Details of shades as below...

G101 Le Gold: Gold colour with a combination of  various sized gold glitters.

N601 Nude Gold: Sheer Pink with fine gold shimmers; looks brighter in the tube than it is when applied.

P601 Rose Gold: Pigmented Magenta (blue-toned) Pink with a light dusting of gold shimmers.

R601 Rouge Gold: Warm-toned red with more gold shimmers to reflect more orange than red.

M601 Mocha Gold: Vampish dark brown-red with medium gold shimmers. Suits all skintones.

RB602 Scarlet Gold: Cool-tone muted red with a bit of pinks underneath, and subtle gold shimmers.

MY THOUGHTS

It was so so hard for me to pick a favourite! All shades are very flattering to the Asian skintones, to my pleasant surprise. There is a wider selection of shades in other countries, so I believe L'Oréal Singapore carefully curated the 6 shades that they find more palatable to the local masses. Apart from Nude Gold, all other shades are loud & cheery with a party vibe. These colours look amazing on photos but they are not what I will normally use on a daily basis or for work purposes.

In terms of texture, it is creamy smooth and finishes with a beautiful metallic finish. Very moisturising; even after swatching on my lips for hours, my lips still feels normal and hydrated (unlike when I do other lipstick swatches, my battered lips bleed at the end of every session. le sigh. #occupationalhazard).

Longevity-wise, it can't compare to budge-proof matte liquid lipsticks, obviously. We can't compare apple to oranges right? However, it can still last me hours with light drinks, no food. Colour do transfer easily, so be careful there. 

If I am forced to pick only one (Why, when I could have 'em all! They are so affordable!), I will go for the Le Gold since it is a very wearable gold and it is such a unique colour holding on its own as well! Le Gold lasts reasonably long on my non-oily lids too.

Rating: 

If this line of lippies are not value-for-money enough, I don't know what is. They are a luxury packed in a classy tube, under the guise of a super affordable price point!
