Dior Addict Lip Tattoo and Dior PumpNVolume Mascara Review, Swatch and Video Demo

This Spring/Summer 2017, Dior Makeup introduces many goodies and pretties as per previous years. What struck me the most weren't their eyeshadow quads (which in all honesty are really gorgeous collectibles), but these two items - Dior Addict Lip Tattoo and Dior Pump'N'Volume Mascara.

Dior Plump'N'Volume Mascara

I have been eyeing this Pump'N'Volume Mascara for the longest time since they were set to launch many moons ago... when it finally arrived our sunny shores, I immediately grabbed it without hesitation. Well, let's see how it fares on my lashes.

I have very short lashes due to breakage. And I did not use lash curler!

MY THOUGHTS

Needless to say, this product does live up to its hype in terms of how transformational it can be for sparse (and even short/weak) lashes. 

After prolonged eyelash extensions, my lashes are screaming for a break...therefore, as I am resting my lashes, I need a super volumizing + lengthening mascara to fill in my lashes. Dior Pump'N'Volume sure did not disappoint in terms of results & effects seen.

That being said, I cannot rate this product as a MUST-BUY... Nope, sorry. 

Reason being, for what it's worth (at SGD50 per tube), I do not expect it to clump like it does. YES, it will clump, especially if you are just starting out on mascara application. This takes quite a bit of mastery.

So...

How do you avoid clumping while using Dior Plump'N'Volume mascara?

1. Do not squeeze the tube more than twice.
2. Lightly blot the wand applicator on a piece of tissue.
3. Apply mascara in a zigzag manner.
4. Use another clean spoolie brush to separate your lashes if they are clumping together.

Dior Addict Lip Tattoo

The entire Lip Tattoo Long Wear Colored Tint range consists of 6 shades. My favourite is 351 Natural Nude.

Do not be fooled by its name "Natural Nude"... The colour is so intense and actually appears extremely bright on my lips. Just check out below!

After an oily meal, a nice stain is left on my lips.

MY THOUGHTS

I usually have no personal fondness for luxury brands' lip tints/ lip stains...They do not seem to be as high-performing as Korean brands. However, this Dior one is really amazing and one notch higher than many Korean brands. Thumbs up!

Its application is smooth, highly pigmented, non-drying texture, zero colour transfer; with the colour fades into a beautiful stain and lasts through a really greasy meal. I have no complaints about this Dior lip stain at all - only pet peeve is how much effort it will take to remove the lip colour at the end of the day. :)

DARING LIPS - GLOW IN GOLD

Since its first launch over 30 years ago, L'Oréal Paris Makeup has continued to reinvent this lipstick formula to provide consumers with the richest colour and richest care. Now, the latest development is the introduction of Color Riche Collection Star 24K Gold metallic lipstick collection, where the lippies are enriched with lip-loving oils, velvety pigments and... (listen up here!) 24 KARAT GOLD! Yes, the brand is pampering us with real gold!

Even though they are metallic lipsticks, these are definitely not the old-school type of drying metallic lipsticks that makes one look 8 years older. This L'Oréal line still retains its Color Riche moisturizing formula...uh no wait, it's an improved version of it!

The Star item of this new lipstick line is in the shade G101- Le Gold. The versatility of its multi-functions of a lipstick, eyeshadow stick and highlighter makes it endearing. Not to mention you can also layering it on another shade to create on-trend ombré lips.

From left: R601, RB602, P601, N601, G101, M601.

 

All shades contain gold shimmers; while some contain slightly bigger speckles and others are more subtle. Details of shades as below...

G101 Le Gold: Gold colour with a combination of  various sized gold glitters.

N601 Nude Gold: Sheer Pink with fine gold shimmers; looks brighter in the tube than it is when applied.

P601 Rose Gold: Pigmented Magenta (blue-toned) Pink with a light dusting of gold shimmers.

R601 Rouge Gold: Warm-toned red with more gold shimmers to reflect more orange than red.

M601 Mocha Gold: Vampish dark brown-red with medium gold shimmers. Suits all skintones.

RB602 Scarlet Gold: Cool-tone muted red with a bit of pinks underneath, and subtle gold shimmers.

MY THOUGHTS

It was so so hard for me to pick a favourite! All shades are very flattering to the Asian skintones, to my pleasant surprise. There is a wider selection of shades in other countries, so I believe L'Oréal Singapore carefully curated the 6 shades that they find more palatable to the local masses. Apart from Nude Gold, all other shades are loud & cheery with a party vibe. These colours look amazing on photos but they are not what I will normally use on a daily basis or for work purposes.

In terms of texture, it is creamy smooth and finishes with a beautiful metallic finish. Very moisturising; even after swatching on my lips for hours, my lips still feels normal and hydrated (unlike when I do other lipstick swatches, my battered lips bleed at the end of every session. le sigh. #occupationalhazard).

Longevity-wise, it can't compare to budge-proof matte liquid lipsticks, obviously. We can't compare apple to oranges right? However, it can still last me hours with light drinks, no food. Colour do transfer easily, so be careful there. 

If I am forced to pick only one (Why, when I could have 'em all! They are so affordable!), I will go for the Le Gold since it is a very wearable gold and it is such a unique colour holding on its own as well! Le Gold lasts reasonably long on my non-oily lids too.

Rating: 

If this line of lippies are not value-for-money enough, I don't know what is. They are a luxury packed in a classy tube, under the guise of a super affordable price point!

Infallible 24H Stay Powder Foundation

Inspired by Japanese two-way cake foundation, this is the powder form of the liquid foundie in the same line. Matte finish with the same 24H long-wear formula. Claims to fight 5 signs of shiny skin - shine-control, non-drying texture, optimal coverage, soft velvet finish, 24H flawless wear

My shade is #160 Sand Beige.

 

Looks great on photos, but in reality when you look at my skin, it reflects a slight greyish hue and because it is a total matte finish, my face look a little pale & "sandy".

 

MY THOUGHTS

The entire foundation collection surpasses my expectations. I am someone who is all willing to invest on base makeup so I rarely use drugstore foundations. Alas! I am so stoked to find awesome quality at drugstore prices in this L'Oréal Infallible 24H Foundation line! Especially loving the liquid foundation as I received praises and enquiries about which foundation I am using when I was wearing it.

Liquid Foundation: Glides on smoothly, long-lasting, hydrated & comfortable, satin matte finish (similar to those nice matte BB cushion effect), radiant-looking. High coverage and medium level oil control. I wouldn't consider this "sweat-proof" but it works fine under humid weather and can last for a good 10 hours with minimal blotting. I haven't test it for 24Hours so I cannot vouch that it will stay perfect for 24 hours - in fact, I highly doubt any foundation can do that (and please, I do not recommend you to wear a foundie for 24 hours, gosh!!)

Powder Foundation: Easy to apply, total matte finish & texture, non-drying to skin and smooth to the touch. Ages well and doesn't oxidise much. Limited shades; and Sand Beige is not my perfect shade match so I looked a bit ghastly in this foundation. Marketed as a two-way powder foundation, but I do not recommend using it wet as it could get patchy. 

Overall Rating:

I'd give the liquid foundation half a lippie more because the shade was a better match for me, and I like the subtle radiance as it ages on the skin, despite being a matte product.

Peripera Peri's Ink Velvet Fall 2016 Lip Tint: Review, Swatches, MOTD

Matte lipsticks are all the rage in the recent two years especially in 2016. Every beauty lover you know of owns at least one matte liquid lipstick in her stash. Think Kylie Lip kits, Kat Von D liquid lipsticks and the likes. 

For Asians with yellow skin tones and on the constant hunt for a perfect MLBB (my lips but better) liquid lipstick, you probably didn't have much luck with Western cult brands. On the other hand, Korean lip tints usually don't quite make the cut of a MLBB matte liquid lip colour - their shades are mostly too bright.

So this is why Peripera Peri's Ink Velvet score with their latest Fall shades! They have a total of 10 shades, out of which 3 newest shades belong to the Fall 2016 collection:

• #6 Celeb Deep Rose
• #7 Dollish Beige Rose
• #8 Pretty Coral

Although they are marketed as lip tints, they look and feel a lot like liquid lipsticks with a creamy matte texture and dense pigmentation. The unique selling point is that they have undertones of the usual bright Korean pigments, therefore after 5 minutes of application, your lips will be stained with the brighter tones (which in fact is a really pretty stain if you ask me).

You can see from the swatches, the lip tint doesn't dry up totally if you choose not to blot it. It leaves behind a slightly wet, creamy smooth finish. It can be smudged out beautifully & easily into gradient lips. If you prefer a totally matte finish, just blot once with a piece of tissue and it will leave behind a nice stain as shown on second swatch pic.

#6 Caleb Deep Rose 

This is the classic popular Fall MLBB colour which is a deep mauve with brown undertones. This is one of the best-selling shade from this Peri's Ink Velvet line, and looks great universally on various skin tones.

 

I feel that this colour can immediately brighten one's skin. However, it shows up quite dark on my lips if I apply it full on. I wouldn't really consider this as "my lips but better" cos my actual lips are much lighter! Hahaha! Let me show you...

#7 Dollish Beige Rose 

This shade is very similar to #6, only it has more pink than brown. This is a sweet, feminine colour and its versatility tops the rest of the shades in the same line! You can wear it as a gradient lip and the colour will show up as a cute peachy pink. Wearing it full on will produce a brown-pink MLBB look. And if you blot it, or after a meal, this shade will leave behind a fuchsia pink stain that is muted yet very pretty.

#8 Pretty Coral 

As its name suggests, this is a coral colour but a very light peach shade that is nearing a nude. I would consider this a true MLBB instead of the above two, because it is closest to our natural lip colour! You'd look like you almost didn't wear any colour on your lips.

Although I look a bit pale in photos with this shade, but let's give it more credit in real life. It is an everyday shade that gives colour to your lips and face, making you look naturally beautiful with minimum effort.

MY THOUGHTS

PROS:

1. Not as drying as other matte liquid lippies
2. No creasing; less wrinkles on lips
3. Cream finish instead of total matte finish
4. Can be blot down to a nice matte stain
5. Super affordable at SGD11.00 (excl. shipping)
6. An awesome, brighter tweak to the usual Western MLBB colours 
7. Very long-lasting, no touch-up needed for hours!

CONS:

1. Application takes some effort as the formula is not as smooth as some liquid lipsticks
2. Can still be drying if you wear it daily
3. Stain the lips and can be a challenge to remove the stain

RATING: 

I think this Peri's Ink Velvet Fall collection lip tints is by far my favourite matte MLBB lipstick/lip tint. With that kind of price point, you have nothing to complain really.
