For Beloved One Melasleeping Brightening Daily Defence Cream - Review, Swatches & MOTD

Sponsored

Remember the BB Cream hype when it was first introduced some years ago? Next comes CC cream...and now, we've got DD cream. Yes you heard right. DD Cream = Daily Defence Cream.

I first got acquainted with For Beloved One Melasleeping Brightening Daily Defence Cream at a blogger friend's private party

Founded by a Taiwanese beauty editor in 2003, For Beloved One is a brand known for being the pioneer of the world's first bio-cellulose facial mask. With many awards & accolades under its belt, FBO spiked in popularity in Singapore since last year 2015.

After trying For Beloved One Melasleeping Brightening DD Cream for two months, I decide to review it here.

How the full packaging looks like

For Beloved One Melasleeping Brightening DD Cream is a multi-functional skincare cum makeup product that acts as:
  1. Brightening Day Cream/Moisturiser
  2. Sunscreen of SPF30 or 45,
  3. Primer with colour correcting properties - Peach creates natural & well-balanced skin tone, rose produces a healthy, rosy-cheeked look, and lavender has a brightening effect to improve dull & blemish skin primer;
  4. Can be used as a replacement for foundation on the days you want light makeup

Full Ingredient List:

SWATCHES

As evidenced in the above swatch photo, the colour-correcting function is subtle but it's visible and effective. I do not have any particular dullness or redness on my face at the point of testing, so I found Peach most suitable for daily use, especially wearing it alone without any other base makeup.

MY THOUGHTS

1 tube = so many functions.
Therefore, this is one product that lazy/busy girls must not miss!

Being part of the beauty blogging community is nothing short of wonderful. However that comes with the downside of too many different product trials, leading to unstable skin condition at times. When my skin acts up, the first thing I want to avoid is thick base makeup, especially those with high sunscreen content of more than SPF40. (I could have avoided makeup altogether, but I won't, because which lady doesn't want to look good when she heads out?)

So this product is a god-send for situations like that - when I am lazy, short of time, or when my skin needs a breather (yet must still look good).

Besides the aesthetic effect it produces, this DD Cream as a skincare is amazing too! After hours of putting it on, upon makeup removal, my skin immediately looks brighter and smoother. No clogs or bumps that some sunscreens/BB creams can cause.

COVERAGE

Peach has the light to medium coverage. It can be used alone.
Lavender and Pink has very light coverage. Concealer and loose powder may be needed if your skin is not perfect.

MY PERSONAL TIPS: HOW TO CHOOSE the right tone for you?

  • If you want fairer-than-your-normal-skin -> LAVENDER as a base and layer with foundation.
  • If you want healthy, natural skin -> PEACH all over the face alone; or as a base if you need more coverage.
  • If you have sallow skin and wants to add some colour to it -> use ROSE as a base, or on your cheeks only to achieve natural rosy look.
  • If you have redness on your skin ->LAVENDER or PEACH on said areas.
PRODUCT RATING:

If you have used this, share with me which one is your favourite shade!

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] Micro Volumizing Essence and Revolumizing Cushion Cream Review

Sponsored

Is aging skin one of your skin concerns? But do you know what are the signs of aging skin? If you felt your skin is losing plumpness, looking more dehydrated than usual - that could be one telling sign that you need to start anti-aging skincare!

Prevention is always better than cure. The short-term "cures" that people nowadays go for are aesthetic procedures that include botox & filler injections, laser treatment, light therapy, etc. If you are one of the many who are contemplating any aesthetic procedure to achieve better skin, you may want to halt a bit first - this post may be of interest to you!

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] Review Singapore
This month (Feb/March '16), L'oreal Paris launches their latest range of anti-aging skincare Revitalift Filler [HA]. This is the first skincare line inspired by hyaluronic acid filler injections. Targeted at correcting skin volume loss, Revitalift Filler [HA] contains the highest Hyaluronic Acid concentration ever in a L'Oreal Paris skincare, and also one of the highest in the market. What a breakthrough for L'oreal!

Product Line Claims:
  1. Smoothen Forehead Lines
  2. Plump Up Cheeks
  3. Smoothen Laugh Lines
  4. Plump Up Chin for V-Shape

Unique Ingredients Behind the Science of "Fillers"

Mircometric Hyaluronic Acid - Microsized HA, unlike normal HA. Small enough to penetrate the skin barrier and reach the dermis to volumise the skin

Fibroxyl - natural botanical extract, anti-wrinkle and firming active ingredient. Able to stimulate fibroblasts, thus delivering the collagen production.

After testing for about two weeks, I decide to review both the products in the  L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] line - Micro Volumizing Essence and Revolumizing Cushion Cream.

1st "Water Radiance" essence containing 50 X more HA concentration to replenish moisture and voluminize the skin's surface layers.

A revolutionary airless dropper which mimicks the look of a syringe - it dispenses just the optimal amount of ultra-concentrated essence and is used on targeted areas such as cheeks, chin, forehead lines and laugh lines.

MY THOUGHTS

Packaging: Haven't seen anything like that, seriously. Although it's gimmicky, but I grown fond of it because the dropper works so well to dispense the exact amount my face need - 2 drops each morning/night.

Texture: Velvety, non-greasy gel-like substance that smooths on the skin in one swipe motion. Subtle silicon-feel coating on the skin yet super lightweight due to its rapid absorption rate.

Effectiveness: Skin is coated with a layer of barrier that helps to moisturize and plump up skin. Effects of smoothening and hydration are immediately seen. No reduction of lines/wrinkles after two weeks trial though. Just smoother & firmer skin upon product application. When product is not on skin, no visible marked improvements shown on the skin too. (2 weeks may not be sufficient to conclude its results, or lack of.)

Scent: Feminine, powdery-fresh and pleasant smell.

Price: S$49.90

Through the use of surface-active elastomere formulation, Revolumizing Cushion Cream has a high-tech cushion formula with no oily or sticky after-feel.

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] Review Singapore

MY THOUGHTS

Packaging: Elegant, beautiful metallic purple jar. Would be better ( and more hygienic) if spatula was provided.

Texture: Similar to the essence, this cream also has a velvety, non-greasy texture; albeit a little thicker than  the essence, obviously. Heavier-laden with silicones, so a little product goes a long way. Not recommended for combination/oily skin types as a daily moisturiser.

Effectiveness: Visibily soft and plumpy cushion effect on skin. Instant moisturising effect to the skin. But I haven't use it long enough to witness filling out of fine lines/wrinkles. Skin does look firmer, rounder and smoother when I am wearing this moisturizer. However, after taking off the product on my skin, my skin feels as per normal - no visible improvements in plumpness or fine lines reduction.

Scent: Feminine, powdery-fresh and pleasant smell.

Price: S$45.90

Review of Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream

Editorial

The third & last item in my Feb '16 BNT Beauty Box is an anti-aging face moisturizer/wrinkle cream:
Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream

Review of Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream

Quite a mouthful for a product name.

Have you ever heard of Hwajin Cosmetics? I have not, but I am happy to add this to my beauty lexicon! Upon some kind help from Google, I learnt that Hwajin Cosmetics is a relatively new brand but its R & D laboratory & factory was set up since 2011 in Korea. It has since created several high quality skincare & makeup products; previously the ISILOE Premium Whitening Kit that I raved about HERE was in fact one of them!

Hwajin Cosmetics does not target merely on the Korean market, it aims to share the pie in Chinese and Japanese markets as well. If you understand Chinese, do check out this video and be impressed by their massive business presence. No English information available on their site yet.

Review of Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream
Back to the cream, as evidenced in the above photos, Hwajin Cosmetics definitely doesn't scrimp on their packaging. Uncapping the exquisite, bright orange + subtle gold tub brought forth another level of surprise - product is tightly double-sealed! I have a penchant for all things clean, neat (yes, label me OCD if you must!) & colourful so this luxurious packaging almost had me sold! Well, almost.

Let's dive into the contents beneath that gorgeous overkill packaging, shall we?

Review of Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream
Apparently, the jelly cream displays a hue as bright an orange as its exterior. A significant orange citrus-y scent wafted through the air, without me bringing the jar too close to my nose yet. #scentgamestrong

Notable Ingredients include:

Astaxanthin, artichoke, seaweeds extracts and "botox-like" peptides.

As per its name "Jelly Cream", the texture definitely feels more of a jelly than a cream, albeit one that is thicker in consistency.

MY THOUGHTS

The memory cushion texture of this jelly is a fun bonus point. Aren't you tickled to learn that memory cushion technology doesn't quite end at pillows & mattresses?

Underneath all that fanciful ingredients, super emollient texture and ornate packaging, the ONE simple yet most important quality of a good moisturiser is missing - cream absorbs REALLY slowly. You got to apply sparingly if you do not wish to wait for 15 minutes for a moisturiser to dry.

Let me show you the swatches to prove my point...

Review of Hwajin Cosmetics Yeblang Special A Star Jelly Cream
Such a quantity is fine for other moisturisers, but with this jelly cream, this amount is a huge mistake!

After application of a layer of cream, my skin instantly appeared orangey. Anyone can tell it is an obvious orange gel in the tub, but little did I sadly realised that the orange hue would somehow be reflected on my skin! 95% of the orange tone will gradually fade off after cream is totally absorbed though.

BUT absorption takes forever.

For the above swatch, even after 15 minutes, it is almost as wet & sticky as when applied. Noted the press release states "Its diverse moisturizing ingredients create a protecting film [...]" - yes, there is definitely a film barrier being felt on the skin. Film feels sticky to touch for approximately 15 minutes (if you apply a small amount), thereafter the facial skin does appear more nourished, soft, radiant & plumped.

I am betting this cream will be brilliant to use in dry climates or on dry/mature skins. My country of residence and skin type, unfortunately, fall in neither categories hence I can only reserve my 4-lippies rating till then.

Rating:

Due to its hefty price tag, I took a lippie off. However, if you've got cash to spare, have dry skin, need help for wrinkles, semi-obsessed with luxe/bright/regal packaging, you should consider this investment! (Miss Sunshine Queen makes me happy just by lounging on my vanity. But it practically makes my Mom happily glowing with her skin more plumped and less wrinkled!)

Price: about 8~90,000 won (not decided) *winces*
